Jyoti
Bihanga- A Taste Bud’s Delight Article
written by Michelle Valenti
At Jyoti Bihanga you will experience some of the most delectable
meals in San Diego. Although it is a purely vegetarian restaurant,
hearty meat-lovers have been known to return regularly with
cravings that will not subside. The dishes at Jyoti Bihanga
are what vegetarians have in mind when they say meat-eaters
don’t know what they are missing. Entrees such as the
Shiva Wrap and the widely popular Neatloaf contain a combination
of flavors that tango with your taste buds and leave you wishing
it were appropriate to lick your plate.
Jyoti Bihanga is owned and operated by students who sought to
create a space that would exude the spirituality of their teacher,
Sri Chinmoy. The bright baby blue walls are decorated with art
that sings peace and there is no evidence of chaos or disorder
from the world. Somehow, when you enter Jyoti Bihanga, concerns
and preoccupations cease momentarily to exist. Your attention
is wholly focused on the sanctity of a complete and nourishing
meal, from the Portabella Mushroom Quesadilla, all the way to
the Vegan Apple Pie dessert.
Whether you find yourself strolling through Hillcrest or on
the other side of town; whether you are a strict vegetarian
or a stubborn carnivore; whether you are five or eighty-five,
Jyoti Bihanga is worth the trip. It is located at 3351 Adams
Avenue in downtown Normal Heights. They are usually open Monday,
Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 11am-9pm and on
Wednesdays from 11am-3pm. They do close for special events throughout
the year, so be sure to check their website or call for a calendar
of these dates. For more information regarding Jyoti Bihanga,
their menu or Sri Chinmoys message of inner peace and joy, go

The phone number is 619-282-4116. Enjoy the experience. |
