The quest is over, we’ve located the best damn sports bar at the beach, and who would have thought, it is right here is San Diego! The Sandbar, located in Mission Beach a mere block from the ocean, boasts being the best place to throw down a couple drinks and get rowdy over some sports team. The sandbar is open daily for breakfast, lunch and dinner; but if you want to catch most over the action, come AFTER dinner.

The best thing about the sandbar is the atmosphere. Being steps away from the beach, the laid back attitude of the area seeps right in through the door and resonates within the bar. The interior is rustic wood, with surfing memorabilia lining the walls. The bar stretches the entire length of the room, and offers nightly drink specials and televisions above the bar and throughout the interior for maximum sport viewing.

One of the hottest evenings to check out the Sandbar is on Wednesdays. Happy Hour specials extend ALL night long and the sandbar also features live local music in house. Saturday and Sunday nights also go off when the sandbar gets a lot of spill over from the Wave House across the street. There are plenty of booths and tables offering ample seating room, which is key on the weekends since the place gets packed quickly. If you arrive early enough, you may be lucky enough to grab a seat outside where you can feel the ocean breeze, people watch and enjoy your drinks or grub.

If you aren’t too into athletics but still like to work up a sweat, Thursday’s at the Sandbar feature DJ D-Skwiz on the turntables, and DJ Temple on the mixing board throughout the weekend. The temperature of the Sandbar rises quickly as people groove to the music. The sandbar also features a pool table, darts, ample smoking room outside, and killer appetizers!
